Skateboarder Girl is a coming-of-age story about self-confidence, courage and the great impact of making your own path. Set in a remote village in Rajasthan, India, the film tells the story of young Prerna (Rachel Saanchita Gupta, with her acting debut), who lives a life of tradition and family responsibilities there. One day, Jessica (Amy Maghera), who grew up in London and runs an advertising company, visits the village to investigate her late fathers childhood. Thanks to Jessica and her old friend (Jonathan Readwin), who comes to the village on a skateboard, Prerna and the other children in the village meet on an exciting new adventure. Children, who show a great interest in skateboarding, glide through the streets and bring the village together. Wanting to support and encourage children in their new passions, Jessica embarks on an uphill battle to build them a skate park. These developments leave Prerna with the difficult choice between living up to societys expectations and fulfilling her dream of competing in the National Skateboarding Championships. Manjari Makijany wrote, directed and produced the film. Starring Rachel Saanchita Gupta, Amy Maghera, Shafin Patel, and Jonathan Readwin, Waheeda Rehman guest-stars. The producers are Emmanuel Pappas and Vinati Makijany, who also co-wrote the film.
